Different Types of Roller Skates and Inline Skates

There are many types of skating and we will discuss some of them in our article

Speed Skates

These skates are designed to travel swiftly and are quite popular due to their design. Speed skates have low-cut shoes (boots) that are similar to tennis shoes in fit. The low-cut style makes it easier to manoeuvre around curves. These skates are popular for jam (dance) skating and, of course, speed skating because of the flexibility of mobility that they give in the ankles. Skaters may skate faster and longer with these skates' speed type wheels and bearings (the portion that makes your wheel spin).

Outdoor Skates

These skates are strictly for outdoor use. Outdoor skates are available with either low top or high top boots, and the wheels are made particularly for skating on rougher surfaces. The wheels are essentially the only difference between an indoor skate and an outdoor skate. Outdoor wheels are softer and more absorbent, allowing for a more comfortable ride on less-than-ideal conditions.

Indoor skates

Skates for use inside (sometimes referred to as Artistic Skates, Recreational Skates, or Traditional Skates). These are conventional type skates for folks who desire to skate in a rink, creatively dance (similar to ice skating but with wheels instead of blades), or rhythm skate. The high boots on these skates provide excellent control when doing spins or leaps. The wheels are narrower, which makes turning and maneuvering easier.

Roller derby skates

Roller Derby is a sport that goes back to the 1930s and is rapidly gaining popularity. These quad skates are built to withstand the punishment that comes with engaging in the sport. Roller Derby Skates must be durable, but they must also be able to accelerate swiftly and maintain speed through tight corners.
